Sports Psychology for Teams

Does your CONFIDENCE and FOCUS disappear during a match?

Do you LOSE to teams you are CONVINCED you should be beating?

Do you MISS when you have a supposedly ‘EASY’ shot, pass, tackle?

Adrian Nicklin

I can help you and your team

After 20 years of playing and coaching sport all over the UK, Europe and the Middle East I have found that it is us holding ourselves back and preventing ourselves from playing our best game.

Either consciously or unconsciously, you’re preventing you from playing your best game and match.

If you are a member of a team, a coach, a manager or even a proud and dedicated sporting parent you want the best for the player. You will have experienced the ups and downs of winning and losing. The ups and downs of players playing well, and sometimes not. It this down to good preparation or just luck!

Wouldn’t it be an advantage to have the player and team have a degree of control about their individual and collective performance, have improved knowledge and understanding that will help them be part of a team and all that this includes.

“I have known Adrian for over twenty years and throughout this time he has been devoted to understanding and applying psychological techniques to the improvement of performance. Adrian has worked with individuals within the Tennis Academy and also presented to members of the 1XV. Small changes to routines and behaviour have had a positive effect on the self-belief, confidence and their performance. Adrian's first publication 'You can be Serious' is an easy read for sports performers and can be applied across individual and team sports”.

You might not have the physical ability to play like your sporting heroes but you can achieve and have the same mental power and control as they do.

We’ve all seen matches where even the world’s best player can lose concentration, become frustrated and focus on how badly they are playing rather than the game they want to play.

Improving your team's mental strength and performance

Our mind can be trained like any other muscle in the body. The more time you exercise it, work on it and use it the stronger, fitter and more powerful it becomes. By exercising and improving your mental fitness and power you will significantly improve your overall game and match skills, I can help you.

  • Increase your focus, concentration and attention
  • Enhance your performance on the field of play
  • Stay focused on playing well and not self-destruct with negative internal comments
  • Increase your confidence and enjoyment of playing
  • Learn how to use these same winning mental techniques in other areas of your life

The 4 C's

We’ll work through the four C’s that underpin sports psychology:

  • Concentration - ability to maintain focus
  • Confidence - to believe in yourself and your abilities
  • Control - ability to maintain emotional control regardless of the distraction
  • Commitment – to continue to improve both your mental and physical skills ability

We use a range of techniques and tools to achieve this including:-

  • How to achieve emotional control
  • How to handle distractions and mistakes
  • How to use positive self-talk to stay focused and win
  • Visualise a positive future and outcome

Take your first step to improving your performance and contact me today and book your first coaching session.

As well as delivering individual sessions I can also deliver group presentations, workshops and seminars, whatever suits your needs.
